PPR pipes have been used as water supply pipes for decades abroad. my country began to import PPR pipe products around 1999, and most of them can be produced independently now. There are three major processes in the development process of
PPR pipe.
First time: PP-H. It is characterized by high temperature resistance and can be applied to 80-90 degrees Celsius. But when it is lower than 10 degrees Celsius, it is easy to be brittle and cracked by external impact. So it cannot be used as a cold water pipe.
The second time: PP-B[PP-C] is the opposite of PP-H, with high toughness and strong elasticity. It is not easy to be brittle even at 0 degrees Celsius. But it is easy to burst above 60 degrees Celsius, so it cannot be used as a hot water pipe.
The third time: PP-R combined the two kinds of pipes are excellent, the hot water pipe is suitable for 80-90 degrees Celsius, and the cold water pipe is not easy to break at 0 degrees Celsius, with strong impact resistance and high toughness. At present, most people use PPR water pipes as water supply pipes.
PE, PE-X, PE-RT are suitable for different fields
PE: It is used as a large-diameter threading pipe for water supply and cold water pipes, gas pipes, and cables. If it is used for water supply pipes, if the temperature is higher than 60 degrees Celsius, the pipes will age quickly.
PE-X (commonly known as cross-linked polyethylene) has changed the molecular structure of polyethylene after cross-linking. It cannot be hot-melted. The pipe and copper pipe fittings are connected by ferrules, so it is easy to leak and cannot be recycled.
PE-RT (commonly known as high temperature resistant polyethylene) is suitable for high temperature of 80-90 degrees Celsius, good toughness, (low temperature resistance) and higher cost than PPR.
PE-X and PE-RT are mainly used in floor heating systems in northern my country. In northern cities, PE-RT is sold as water supply pipes. The main material of PE, PE-X and PE-RT is polyethylene. The main material of PPR is polypropylene, both of which are hydrocarbons, but the molecular structure is different, and both have no toxic and side effects. In addition, there are stainless steel PPR and copper PPR. The outer layer is PPR, and the inner layer is stainless steel (copper). This material is strong and not easy to break. Direct contact between stainless steel and water will cause metal pollution. Moreover, the thermal expansion coefficient between PPR and metal is different, and there is a theoretical principle of delamination and detachment, which requires a higher process to solve. The copper tube can be in direct contact with water, and copper can sterilize, but the copper tube cannot be squeezed by external force, so it can only be installed in the sky. At present, some high-end buildings use copper pipes as water supply pipes.
Judging from the current market usage, the most widely used water supply pipe is
PPR pipe.
